THE HEART OF WESSEX LINE
SUMMER is on the way, and new train times come into effect on May 18th. Find a preview of our next Line Guide timetable here. These times will apply until 7th September 2008.
A special train in aid of The Railway Children is running from stations along our line to MINEHEAD on 10th May, and sounds like a wonderful opportunity for a special family day out. Details.
SUMMER GUIDED WALKS led by local experts from the Ramblers' Association will begin again on 7th June. The walks are free - all you need is your train ticket, good walking gear and food/drinks to keep you going.
The walks leaders have carefully researched fascinating routes into the very best of our countryside, villages and towns. More details.
The winning establishment from our FOODY TRAIL competition is the INN AT FRESHFORD. More details of this and 10 other great places to eat along the line here. The community at FRESHFORD have developed their own "insiders" map-guide which you will find at the station, or get a preview here.
Our line also takes you into an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in DORSET, and local experts have created four lovely walks from the small rural stations there in "Trains to Trails". Find copies of the walking routes here.
A fun time to head for Dorset will be the weekend of 20th-22nd June for MAIDEN NEWTON AT WAR. Find out more here.
