The scenic railway from Bristol to Weymouth

Avoncliff Halt is right under the beautiful aqueduct carrying the Kennet and Avon canal over the rail line, and is the best access point to the canal towpath. Just climb the steps from the station and you are there!  The aqueduct then crosses the River Avon before taking you into this tiny hamlet.

The No. 10 Tea Gardens and the historic local pub, the Cross Guns Inn, are both wonderfully situated just on the other side of the aqueduct, with outdoor seating and lovely views over the River Avon.  Both offer delicious food and make a great “pit stop”  before or after a walk along the canal, or just to laze away a sunny afternoon.
