This station serves the western suburbs of Bath, and is near to the West Bath Riverside Path that links the Bristol to Bath Railway Path with Bath city centre.
Moorland Road, south of the station, is at the heart of Oldfield Park and provides the local community with its main amenities. The shopping parade, one of the busiest outside Bath city centre, has a good range of fresh food with a bakery, butchers and greengrocers and one of those now hard to find classic hardware stores. There is an excellent bookshop, with a reputation amongst its customers as the best in Bath.
Our Lady and St Alphege church is an exquisite gem of a building designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, and a personal favourite of the architect’s amongst the many great buildings he created. The interior is a lovely as the exterior, and one of its glories can be found in 20 carved capitals telling the story of St Alfege. The church is situated on Oldfield Lane, south of the Moorland Road shopping parade.
