UPWEY

A suburb of Weymouth. From the station here there are some fine walking opportunities with views of the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Find a guide to one of them here. This walk takes in the wishing well that has attracted visitors since the 1790's when Weymouth became a fashionable resort.



Upwey station is run by South West Trains, and the Friends of Upwey work with them to help to keep the station attractive and welcoming. They initiated a project to improve the signing at the station, and maintain their own notice-board. Members of the Friends also make a major contribution to passenger count surveys, especially keeping a particular eye on demand during the summer season, which helps towards planning for train capacities at busy times of year.
